- What We Build
Want to take your passion for building homes across the globe? Volunteer abroad and exchange your hammer for a trowel and join Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley on a Global Village trip.
If you are seeking an opportunity to work hard, experience a new culture, expand your horizons, and help deserving families in need of decent housing, then our Global Village trips are for you. No construction experience is necessary: just a compassionate heart, a sense of adventure, a willingness to get dirty, and an open mind. Travel with Habitat today!
We typically send Global Village teams from Habitat East Bay/Silicon Valley to Latin America, Africa, or Asia, annually or bi-annually. Recent trips have included Cambodia, El Salvador, and Mozambique.
From April 1- April 9, 2017, a team of about 15 volunteers have been selected to travel to Usulután, El Salvador and see and experience Habitat’s work abroad as part of our seventh Global Village Trip to El Salvador. These volunteers of all ages and backgrounds will come together from all over the Bay Area to travel to El Salvador because we are truly making a difference there. They will learn new skills, see new sites, experience new cultures, and meet new people all while making a lasting, tangible impact. Habitat EBSV has partnered with Habitat El Salvador since 2001 and has served more than 65 families and raised more than $368,400 to support the country’s unique needs.
This year's leaders:
Nick Stoughton: As weekly Regular Volunteer with Habitat EBSV, Nick knows what he doing when it comes to building houses. Nick is also great at teaching his skills and talents to volunteers as a Crew Leader for multiple Build-A-Thons. His passion for Habitat’s work goes beyond our work here locally! Nick has participated in many Global Village Trips including four with the Habitat EBSV affiliate to El Salvador.
|Alayna Dunkerly: Alayna is the Marketing Specialist at Habitat EBSV. You may have seen her on site taking photos or interviewing families. Aside from taking photos, she loves getting to know the volunteers and families we serve on site. She has participated in builds locally as well as back in her home town of Atlanta, Georgia.|
