Kinsell Commons is a new 22-home development which includes two-story town homes located in the Oakland Housing Authority's Tassafaronga Village. Kinsell Commons includes two 2-bedroom / 1.5 bath homes (1101 ft²), sixteen 3-bedroom / 1.5 bath homes (1255 ft²), and four 3-bedroom / 2 bath adaptable homes (1267 ft²). These homes are built using environmentally-friendly methods and materials, ensuring a healthy, energy-efficient and resource-efficient home. Features include wood laminate and natural linoleum floors, a high-efficiency heating system, a new refrigerator, and a new gas range. These homes are centrally located, with easy access to BART and other public transportation and the freeway.
Eligible buyers must be very low- or low-income, and comply with the City of Oakland's program requirements. Habitat for Humanity East Bay offers a 0% interest loan, as well as some deferred financing. A partial or full rebate of the school facility fees paid by Habitat may also be available from the California Housing Financing Agency as down-payment assistance.
Designed and constructed by Habitat for Humanity East Bay using Redevelopment Agency funds from the City of Oakland, AHP funds from the Federal Home Loan Bank, and California Self-Help Housing Program funds from the State of California.
