A Bay Area charity cycling event benefiting Habitat for Humanity

Since 2018, thousands of Habitat supporters have put in the miles for Habitat, strapping on bike helmets and getting moving for affordable housing as part of our signature fundraising and cycling event: Cycle of Hope.

Cycle of Hope is more than a fun day out, some good exercise, great community, and a reason to celebrate. It’s also a keystone fundraising event each year, a critical way we raise funds for our work to increase access to decent, stable, affordable housing here at home and around the world.

Plus, as one of the Bay Area's bike rides for charity, Cycle of Hope offers our community a new way to make a difference in the housing crisis and have a great time doing it.

For some, like Giulia, it’s a way to make their existing love for Habitat go the distance by doubling down on their volunteerism. For others, like Harold, it’s a fun way to connect with colleagues in a cause supported by their employer. And for still others, like Michael, it’s a way to do something about the housing issues they see every day while doing something they love. By registering, fundraising, and bringing friends into the movement, Cycle of Hope-ers from all walks of life make a profound impact each year.

The 2021 Cycle of Hope was a wild ride, so to speak. With our communities carefully re-emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic, Habitat conceived this year’s cycling benefit as a hybrid event – one that offered the chance for hundreds to participate however and wherever they wanted or to be a part of our hallmark in-person bicycling bonanza. And as that hotly-anticipated gathering neared on October 24th, the Cycle of Hope team was all geared up to show our community a fantastic – and safe – event, with precautions in place to keep everyone healthy in the face of COVID. But when the day was upon us, it wasn’t the pandemic that kept us apart. Instead, it was a (much-needed) downpour and a heavy storm.

However, while a day of intense rains and high winds meant a quick-shifting of gears into an all-virtual ride, our community stuck with us – putting in thousands of miles and hours on bicycle seats and on foot, from as near as San Jose, CA, and as far as Osaka, Japan. And more than that, they moved us toward something far bigger than any finish line: a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

This year, Cycle of Hope raised nearly $250,000 to support Habitat’s mission to build homes, communities, and hope!

Thank you to everyone who made the 2021 Cycle of Hope a success. Special thanks to:
