Celebrating the Life of Daryl Lee

Written by Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley | November 29, 2017

On Saturday, November 25, we lost a member of our Habitat family.  Daryl Lee served Habitat for Humanity for 17 years, up until he lost his battle with cancer.  He passed away just after Thanksgiving in the company of his daughters and loved ones.

Daryl has been a daily fixture in so many peoples’ lives at Habitat and we miss him profoundly.  Daryl was a keystone of this community. Whether he was hard at work behind a desk or donning a hard hat and getting his hands dirty, Daryl was passionate about Habitat’s mission.  He devoted himself to growing support for Habitat’s work and building partnerships in our corporate community that have made it possible for Habitat to bring affordable homeownership within reach of thousands of people.

Daryl was the picture of strength and fortitude. Even in sickness, Daryl was sturdy, tough, and eager to give.  And give, he did. Whether it was through his nearly two decades of service with Habitat, his work with search and rescue, his dedication to rescuing and fostering dogs, or just his everyday way of offering to help and making people feel special and valued.

The Habitat family is truly, deeply heartbroken by Daryl’s passing. Please extend your thoughts and prayers to Daryl’s family, and know that we are working hard to carry Daryl’s legacy forward.

In lieu of flowers the Lee family has requested photos and remembrances of Daryl to celebrate his life and accomplishments.  Memorial donations can be made to Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley.

Remembrances will be passed on to the Lee family and they will be notified of Habitat gifts made in Daryl’s honor.
