Building during the COVID-19 pandemic has not been easy, so when the most recent shelter-in-place orders took effect, we geared up for even bigger challenges ahead.

Our construction sites remain open to volunteers because our services are essential to our community during these unprecedented times. Thank you to the volunteers and Habitat staffers who follow our health and safety protocols and ensure our sites remain clean, operational, and building vital housing for our community!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: We have a few spots to volunteer and build these cabins through the middle of January.
San Jose (Rue Ferrari): This community is almost complete and prepared to keep up to 120 of our unhoused neighbors sheltered in place and supported with key services from HomeFirst! Volunteers have wrapped up plumbing and patched up drywall, while some volunteers with electrical backgrounds have pitched into help ensure these units are prepped for power. Now, volunteers are working on the finishing touches.
San Jose (Evans Lane): This Emergency Interim Housing community is taking shape quickly as volunteers have spent December preparing skirting, installing insulation, getting these units fire-safe, working on HVAC, and more. This is an all-hands-on-deck(s) situation – literally, we’re installing decks!
San Jose (Felipe Avenue): Just like 2020 is about to come to a close, so is our work on Felipe Avenue. Thanks to our volunteers, we’ve built 40 cabins to help more of our neighbors stay safe, secure, and on the path to stable housing.
