Achieving financial stability and wellness can be a quite an undertaking even in the best of times. Now, with the COVID-19 pandemic creating an economic fallout that impacts so many families across the Bay Area, it’s more important than ever to offer the support to weather this financial crisis and the resilience to build forward.

At Habitat for Humanity, we know that with access to tools and resources to achieve financial stability and wellness, families can endure through these times and prosper long after.

So, when the pandemic forced closures and called for us to shelter-in-place, Habitat’s Housing Counseling Program didn’t skip a beat. Instead, we found ways to bring our housing and financial counseling services online to safely support our community when we were needed most.

From in-person sessions, we transitioned quickly to phone calls, virtual meetings, and online webinars. However, we knew there was more to be done to serve the growing need in our communities.

Online Financial Education CenterTo expand access to our Housing and Financial Counseling Program, we are excited to announce the launch of our Financial Education Center!

This free, online financial education resource will help individuals build financial health and confidence for themselves and their families. The Financial Education Center features a robust library of resources and interactive playlists focused on topics such as budgeting, investing, homebuying, retirement planning, and more.

Especially now, we must ensure that more people can get the support and guidance they need to stay on firm financial footing through this crisis. While serving our community has been a challenge in this difficult time, Habitat is fortunate to have the support of our partners. Generous funding from First Republic Bank means our housing and financial counseling services are available to more people than ever. Thanks as well to sponsors City National Bank, Patelco Credit Union, Wells Fargo Bank, CTBC Bank, and Mechanics Bank – we’ve been able to grow these services at a time when our communities needed them like never before. The Financial Education Center is a critical way we’re making sure anyone can get access to these valuable resources.
