Habitat Community Capital (HCC) is a non-profit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) (controlled by Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley [HEBSV]), which enacts financing transactions for affordable housing organizations. HEBSV is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International serving Contra Costa, Alameda, and Santa Clara counties.

Position Summary:
The HCC Loan Advisor will be responsible for lead generation, cultivation, and conversion, related to financing transactions for affordable housing. The Loan Advisor will facilitate the entire interaction from introduction through preliminary loan agreement, including building relationships, identifying financing needs, and determining the HCC products which best meet the prospective client’s needs. Products may include mortgage leveraging, construction loans, forward commitments, and other products as they are developed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify prospects, generate leads, and convert to borrowers
  • Develop working relationships with affordable housing organizations; identify and connect with the decision-maker for financing transactions; develop connections with multiple staff levels at prospect/client organizations, via a plan that demonstrates a knowledge of the regions and people involved
  • Identify prospect/client needs, and develop materials that communicate how HCC’s products meet these needs
  • Contact and track communications with new and existing (prospects and) clients, regarding ongoing needs
  • Be able to explain the benefits of financing and answer questions about financial products
  • Do internet research, make cold calls, and send emails to identify new leads – cold calling is a must
  • Research the capacities of potential clients, utilize web resources (such as GuideStar and HFHI) to pull and evaluate the financials of organizations
  • Maintain an accurate database of clients and leads
  • Provide reports on communications with prospects and clients, and updates on the status of relationships.
  • Communicate with HCC personnel on product demand and available products
  •  Work with marketing team to develop materials that communicate products to clients and potential clients
  • Attend conferences as a means to learn and network; be prepared to lead classes if offered the opportunity
  • Act as liaison with vendors and consultants
  • Maintain the relationships of the CDFI (HCC) and expand the reach of CDFI as directed
  • Provide input and insight on strategic decisions, as requested

Position Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in sales or similar relationship management required
  • Experience in finance or affordable housing preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to network both in-person and virtually
  • Able to communicate effectively with the leadership of organizations by phone, email, video, and in-person
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work independently
  • Basic understanding of affordable housing trends, organizations, rules, and laws preferred
  • Basic understanding of CDFIs preferred
  • Commitment to affordable housing and to HCC’s mission
  • Full-time, flexible hours. Some travel may be required
