Cycle of Hope

Join us for a Metric Century, 5okm Intermediate, 15km Starter, or Kids’ ride on October 20, 2024 at  Patelco Credit Union's HQ in Dublin, or virtually from anywhere between October 1-20!  Plus, celebrate your ride with food, drinks, music, games and more at our Finish Line Festival. No matter how you participate in Cycle of Hope, you’ll impact the lives of families who partner with Habitat to build better foundations, brighter futures, and stronger communities.

Routes

The 2024 Cycle of Hope follows in previous iterations’ footsteps, offering a course for each skill level (beginner, intermediate, and advanced) in the Starter, Moderate, and Metric Century rides respectively. For children and families, there’s also the Kid’s Route that gets kids active and helpful in making a difference. Find out more about the routes below! 

Kid’s Ride
The Kid’s Ride is for children 10 and younger, with a start time at 11:30am, and rides ranging from .25 to 2 kilometers on an enclosed, off-street course. 
For this section, we’d also suggest including more information on if strollers and other carriers for children are allowed, and other information for parents to know before registration. 

11-mile Starter Ride
The Starter Ride is for all who want a fun, shorter ride that helps to support Habitat’s mission. The start time is set for 10 am, and the route is planned at 11 miles starting at Central Parkway, cruising North up the Iron Horse Trail, cruising Camino Tassajara and Tassajara Road, before coming back to the start.
For this section, we’d also suggest including information on the aid station location as well as any other stations or hazards that riders should be aware of.

30-mile Moderate Ride 
The Moderate Ride is a great workout and challenge for intermediate cyclers. This ride’s start time is at 8:30 am for a nice 30 mile ride with the same Central Parkway start but traveling up Camino Tassajara to Highland Road and Santa Rita Road before crossing the finish line. 
For this section, we’d also suggest including information on the aid station location as well as any other stations or hazards that riders should be aware of.

Metric Century Ride
The longest and most challenging ride is the Metric Century, a 62 mile trek beginning on Sybase Drive, across the East Branch and Windmere Parkways, down Greenville Road, and back north along Foothill Road back to the start. 
For this section, we’d also suggest including information on the aid station location as well as any other stations or hazards that riders should be aware of.

Finish Line Festival

The fun’s just beginning after you cross the finish line. Cool off and celebrate your achievement and your help in raising funds for our programs throughout East Bay. Grab yourself a cool beverage, get your helmet decorated, take your child for a face painting, play giant Jenga, and visit the vendor booths from businesses and organizations in the community.

Have more questions on picking up your rider packet, usage of e-bikes, or if you need to rent a bike for the big day? Check out our FAQ below!

• When and where can I pick up my rider packet?
  You can pick your packet up in-person at Mike’s Bikes in Pleasanton on October 19th from 10am-2pm, or if you’d like to grab it on the day of the event just arrive with some extra time before the ride and pick it up before you line up at the start.
• Are e-bikes allowed for the Cycle of Hope?
  E-bikes are allowed on the ride. Please follow all road rules, including speed limits during the event.
• I don't have a bicycle, what can I do?
  Grab a rental! Some local cycling shops have bikes available for rent, like Sports Basement. And if you love it, many rental and demo programs will let you put the fee toward the purchase of the bike!
