Our hearts are broken on behalf of our neighbors on Maui, who have been devastated by deadly wildfires that hit the island on August 8th. Of the three areas impacted, the historic town of Lahaina has seen the most profound destruction. Hundreds of structures in Lahaina have been ravaged and, along with them, the homes and livelihoods of families, businesses, and communities.
Due to its housing crisis, Maui is home to many multigenerational households – and thousands of these families have been displaced by the disaster. Among them are ten Habitat families in Lahaina.
