- What We Build
Habitat East Bay/Silicon Valley is committed to helping ALL East Bay and Silicon Valley residents achieve long-term affordable housing, not just Habitat homeowners.Through our Housing Counseling, we work with families to accomplish financial goals and become ready for homeownership.
We are approved by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide pre-purchase counseling; financial, budgeting, and credit education; and non-delinquency post purchase workshops. Working with one of our housing counselors can help you repair credit, reduce debt, and achieve or preserve your dream of homeownership.
If you’re not sure if you’re ready to buy a home or if you need help repairing your credit or setting a budget, we can help. Clients receiving one-on-one counseling for credit must provide a money order for the cost of obtaining the credit report in the amount of $25 if one person is receiving counseling or $40 if more than one person is receiving counseling.
Our services include:
Pre-purchase Housing Counseling to help you determine if homeownership is the right choice for you. We provide guidance on the requirements and qualifications and how to apply for homeownership. Homebuyer education/orientation workshops are conducted throughout the year in different locations in our service area. If you are interested in attending one of these workshops, please register online.
One-on-One Counseling includes a variety of subjects including:
We have housing counselors who will meet with you in either our Oakland office (2619 Broadway) or our Milpitas office (513 Valley Way). To schedule an appointment in Oakland, please call (510) 803-3371 or in Milpitas, please call (408) 620-3411.
Homebuyer and Financial Literacy Workshops are offered to individuals who are already on the path to homeownership. Our Homebuyer’s Club gives you the tools to take on the responsibilities of homeownership and includes topics such as understanding the home buying process, budgeting, savings strategies, and keeping debt under control.
Many of these workshops are also offered to the general public in locations in Alameda, Contra Costa, and Santa Clara counties. For schedules and locations and to register online click here.
