Earlier this month, Habitat EBSV President and CEO, Janice Jensen, and Board Member Vince Salinas joined nearly 300 other Habitat advocates at Habitat on the Hill – Habitat International’s annual legislative conference in Washington, D.C.

on vision, many voices

Habitat on the Hill brought together housing advocates from the entire Habitat spectrum – including CEOs, donors, volunteers, and homeowners – to discuss Habitat’s legislative priorities, attend advocacy and policy-related workshops, and hold face-to-face meetings with lawmakers on Capitol Hill.

As we experience changes in the new legislative year, Habitat on the Hill’s theme – One Vision, Many Voices – was more powerful than ever.  Tjada McKenna, COO of Habitat for Humanity International, emphasized in her presentation that together “we can move mountains,” echoing a theme which inspired participants to meet with key legislators and make their voices heard.

“I’m reminded of our individual and collective power in our democracy and using our voices to ensure that lawmakers hear from us in support of the people we serve,” says Janice. “It’s our responsibility to advocate for those we serve, and meeting with policymakers is an important step to improve affordable housing policy at the federal level.”

Janice will continue these efforts locally by following up with key legislators in their district offices as federal legislative and regulatory issues progress. Join her and make your voice heard! Sign up for our advocacy alerts to receive information on getting involved.
