The saying, “All good things come with time,” has never felt truer! While we’re still waiting to start demolition, lay foundations, and raise walls, our volunteers and staff have stayed busy polishing up finished projects and gearing up for the start of new ones! See how:
Oakland (Manila Avenue): Volunteers from Cal Berkeley’s Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter joined us earlier this month to help beautify the first of two renovations on Manila Avenue, by helping us with landscaping and treating the fence!
Our staff is working closely with the City of Oakland and architects to finalize construction plans and permitting on the home next door. We expect to start construction on the second home as early as November!
Walnut Creek (Esperanza Place): WE’VE BROKEN GROUND!
It’s been a long time in the making, but on September 10th a small group of Habitat staff, community supporters, and selected Habitat families came together to celebrate the start of this new, affordable 42-home development in Walnut Creek.
With the official Groundbreaking Ceremony in the books, site work will commence this fall. We’re on track to welcome volunteers at the beginning of next year!
San Jose (4th & Reed St): We’re working with the City of San Jose on entitlements, site design, and permitting for the new foundation. We're also fundraising the support we’ll need to renovate this beautiful century-old property into four affordable homes.
We hope to start welcoming volunteers at the start of 2022.
Green Spaces Oakland: Last month we hosted our first Green Spaces build day with our partners at M-Group! Thirteen volunteers gathered at our Oakland Workshop to build garden stools, planter benches, and picnic tables that will be used to revitalize community gardens across Oakland.
