Did you know that we are a HUD-approved housing counseling agency? This means that if you are hoping to get on the road to homeownership, we can help you get equipped for a successful journey. Whether you are interested in homeownership through Habitat or you’re just seeking financial advice, we can provide the guidance and skills you need to feel confident with your finances.

Our housing counseling services are not just for Habitat homeowners — they are open to anyone looking for more financial stability.

Delmas_Dedication.jpgFree, one-on-one counseling gets you individual guidance from a Habitat Housing Counselor, who can help you identify the unique issues affecting your housing or financial situation.  We will work with you to develop strategies for concerns like credit repair, debt reduction, budgeting, and saving.

You can also take advantage of free financial literacy workshops. In these one-hour group sessions, you can learn about specific topics on a range of financial issues like ID theft and scams, budgeting, saving, credit scores, and debt management. Coming up on November 13th, we have a special Budgeting for the Holidays workshop that will teach you what you need to prepare for holiday spending.

For those looking to purchase their first home but aren’t sure where to start, you might consider our 8-hour HUD-approved First-Time Homebuyer Class. You’ll earn a certificate for educating yourself on practical homebuying subjects like home loan shopping and qualifying, credit reports and scores, negotiating a purchase, the closing process, homeownership obligations, and post-purchase budgeting.

All of our Housing Counseling services are designed to help you become financially fit and educated. To learn more about these resources, call (510) 803-3371 for our Oakland office or (408) 620-3411 for our Milpitas office.
