UPDATE 9.25.17: Habitat for Humanity is working tirelessly to lay the groundwork for the multiyear effort to help families and communities affected by Hurricane Harvey, Irma and Maria. Read a letter from Habitat for Humanity's CEO, Jonathan Reckford, sharing our long-term hurricane recovery plan.
UPDATE 9.21.17: Habitat for Humanity has people on the ground in Puerto Rico helping with disaster relief in wake of Hurricane Maria. We will continue to report updates as plans for long-term recovery unfold.
Hurricanes Harvey and Irma have crippled communities and left thousands of families returning to homes damaged beyond repair. But as President Jimmy Carter stated, “When the waters rise, so do our better angels.”

As we send our thoughts and prayers to those left in the path of these historic disasters, we join Habitat for Humanity in uniting our efforts to help these communities on their long road to recovery.

Right now, relief organizations, the first line of defense, are providing basics like food, water, and temporary housing.
Habitat for Humanity currently has Disaster Corps volunteers on the ground in the storm-ravaged communities conducting rapid damage assessments and helping clean out homes damaged by winds and flood waters. However, Habitat’s long-term post-disaster recovery efforts will be vital to rebuilding the homes and lives of affected families.
Plans to rebuild will depend on the level of support we can leverage to repair damaged homes and build new, affordable homes in the area.
This is why we at Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley have set up a 2017 Hurricane Relief Fund. 100%  of the funds raised by our local community of supporters will directly benefit Habitat for Humanity's efforts to assist the more than 30 Habitat affiliates located throughout the region affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.
Donate today and help families affected by these storms see hope for a better tomorrow.
