It's true—a Habitat construction site welcomes builders of any (and no) skill level. Thanks to our skilled staff and AmeriCorps Crew Leaders, you don't need any experience to make a difference on a build site! However, there are some volunteer opportunities that require a specific passion or talent to make the most impact. Unlike our general volunteer opportunities, these specialized volunteer roles require prior experience or understanding of the tasks at hand. Some of these "specialists" volunteer for a single day, while other roles are needed on a recurring basis. Regardless of how you get involved with Habitat, you'll end your day knowing you're supporting our mission to bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope.

If you're passionate about cycling...
We're looking for volunteers who know a thing or two about cycling to lend a hand at our annual Cycle of Hope charity ride. One new and very important role this year? We need a Bike Ambassador! As a Bike Ambassador, you'll use your knowledge of cycling safety to provide on-course support for a section of the 13-mile ride that lacks a shoulder—helping to keep our athletes safe and cycling for the finish!
If you have admin experience...
Are you a data devotee, a spreadsheet enthusiast, and a detail lover? Put those skills to work as a ReStore Admin Volunteer! Our ReStore in Oakland is looking for a skilled admin volunteer who is comfortable in an office environment to help create and maintain reports, email communications, and more.
Our Habitat office is also looking for admin-loving volunteers to spend time at our headquarters in Oakland as an Office Volunteer. As a key part of our office operations, you'll work behind the scenes to help keep Habitat building strong—entering critical data, helping at events, and assisting with special projects.

Join our ReStore team as an Inventory Volunteer. Make sure our ReStores are ready for retail by ensuring inventory accuracy and pricing integrity before items are distributed to one of our three ReStore locations.
If you're a natural born leader who completes their own home repairs...
Join our Playhouse Program as a Crew Leader! Crew Leaders assist in setup, volunteer direction, clean-up, and staff support at Playhouse Build events. This is a great opportunity for someone who is comfortable using tools and their voice as they guide groups to safely build one-of-a-kind playhouses for children!
If coordination is your thing...
We're looking for two Volunteer Coordinators to support the creation of our new volunteer program at ReStore. If you're a people person with great organizational and communication skills, take advantage of this volunteer opportunity in Oakland! You'll be a Habitat ambassador as you recruit new volunteers, welcome and educate volunteers on how ReStore supports Habitat's mission, and set volunteers up with the direction and motivation they'll need for a great day of giving back. This is a great role for a student or recent graduate looking to gain valuable leadership experience.
