Beloved Community Build

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we're partnering with Bay Area companies and Oakland community organizations to build toward what Dr. King called "the Beloved Community."

The Beloved Community is a fair, just community that celebrates our shared humanity. It is a community built on love - love in action.

Join us in coming together, celebrating diversity, and building community by revitalizing a community garden in Oakland. These community gardens sit at the heart of many neighborhoods. They’re spaces where neighbors gather, children learn and play, and healthy food is grown.  And they need your help.

By working with Habitat to build benches, garden stools, tool sheds, and other infrastructure, you can support these gardens and the communities they feed in more ways than one.

Your participation includes:

  • Event T-shirts
  • Coffee and pastries to start your day
  • Additional programmatic elements such as live music and a guided discussion around the Beloved Community and your impact.
  • Lunch

Space is very limited. If you're interested in having your Oakland-based community/social group volunteer for the build, participating as a discussion panelist, or getting your company involved as a sponsoring volunteer group, please complete the inquiry form on this page. A teambuilding coordinator will contact you shortly after with more information and next steps.
