Let's Open the Door Pop-Up

Saturday, June 27 11:00am PDT

Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley — in partnership with Habitat for Humanity International — invites you to "Open the Door" at Oakland's Lakefest

As part of Habitat for Humanity's global "Let's Open the Door" campaign, 10 artists from around the world — including Oakland's very own Dean Stuart — showcase the power of home through art, painted on a front door. Now, these doors are traveling around the nation, along with family stories and compelling research, to illustrate the transformative impact of a safe and stable home.

This exhibit will inspire and move you — as we work to build a world with more open doors for everyone. The Let's Open the Door pop-up's next stop is right here in Oakland on June 27th at Lakefest.

Let's Open the Door in Oakland

Around the world, 1 in 3 people wake up each day without the stability and security of a safe, affordable home. This global housing crisis affects families in every community, including right here in the East Bay and Silicon Valley.

To raise awareness of this challenge, Habitat for Humanity launched Let’s Open the Door, an effort designed to ignite a worldwide movement for housing access and opportunity. As we celebrate 40 years of partnering with families and the local East Bay and Silicon Valley communities, we’re inviting people everywhere to take action and help open doors that have long been closed for far too many families.

Through volunteer opportunities, compelling new research, storytelling of lived experience, and pop-up displays like this one at Lakefest, Let’s Open the Door shines a light on the realities families face — and the solutions that can help transform them.
