Hundreds to Gather for Habitat for Humanity Build Event

Presenting Sponsor, Patelco Credit Union, offers a fresh venue, while Media Sponsor, iHeartRadio, is generating early buzz.

July 19, 2023 (Dublin, CA) – Cycle of Hope, Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley’s cycling event, enters its sixth year this October 22nd with a twist. After hosting its initial years in Silicon Valley, the benefit ride for affordable housing is shifting its focus to a new region – the East Bay. Hundreds of athletes are poised to push off from Dublin, at the new headquarters of Presenting Sponsor, Patelco Credit Union.

While Cycle of Hope offers the community-friendly features that have attracted scores of repeat riders – courses at a range of challenge levels, great swag, and a virtual option – the new venue promises some key advantages. A scenic new set of routes through the Tri-Valley, at 9, 33, and 62 miles. A Kids’ Course at the heart of an energetic finish line celebration, with upgraded amenities made possible by the well-appointed Patelco Credit Union campus.

“Patelco Credit Union is thrilled to host this year’s Cycle of Hope,” said Vince Salinas, who serves both as VP of Home Loans at Patelco and as Chair of the Board of Directors at Habitat East Bay/Silicon Valley. “Though it’s our sixth year as the event’s Presenting Sponsor, it’s our first as its host. We are eager to welcome all the amazing cyclists and spectators, and to step up in this new way to support the work of Habitat for Humanity in our local communities.”

The community has responded enthusiastically to the ride’s return and to its geographic shift, with dozens committing early and launching their fundraising efforts. Media Sponsor, iHeartRadio, has stepped up to amplify the Cycle of Hope message ahead of the first big registration price increase on August 1 – prompting a fresh wave of new ridership signing on for the benefit ride.

“This year’s Cycle of Hope is going to be bigger and better than ever,” said Janice Jensen, President and CEO of Habitat East Bay/Silicon Valley. “With such an amazing venue at Patelco Credit Union, we’re going to be able to offer our community an outstanding experience, complete with a finish line festival worthy of our athletes’ accomplishments. We’re so grateful to have hundreds riding to support our work, and we can’t wait to show them an event to remember.”

The in-person ride on October 22nd will kick off with Metric Century cyclists leaving the start line at 7:30am, while virtual riders can log their miles as early as October 1st. Music, food, beer, refreshments, games, and exhibitor booths are awaiting the cyclists on their return to the finish line. For more information, visit HabitatCycleOfHope.org.
