Build 10 homes alongside hundreds of volunteers in just 3 days at Habitat's 40th Anniversary Build-A-Thon — one of our biggest fundraising events EVER!

Arrive on Day 1 to foundations and framing. By Day 3, volunteers will have completed weeks of construction work — bringing 10 homes closer to completion.

FAQ

Below are our most frequently asked questions about volunteering and fundraising for Build-A-thon.

What is the schedule for each day?

8:00 AM Volunteers arrive onsite to register.
8:15 AM Breakfast
8:30 AM Morning Program 
9:00 AM Construction Starts
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM Lunch
4:00 PM Workday Ends

Where can I park?

You will be responsible for your transportation to the worksite each day. It's a good thing that Esperanza Place is a transit-oriented neighborhood just steps from BART and a multitude of bus lines! If you're driving, we highly encourage you to coordinate carpools each day to the worksite. There will be available parking for a small fee at the Pleasant Hill Bart Station. Volunteers will help direct you to available parking. Please plan 5-10 minutes to walk to the site. 

What happens if the event gets cancelled?

We reserve the right to postpone or cancel the event due to circumstances beyond our control such as a natural disaster or emergency or as required to protect the safety of participants and staff.

In the event we have to make this unfortunate decision, you will be contacted via the email address you used at registration. Build-A-Thon is a non-refundable event. We rely on the generous support of our community to serve Habitat’s mission and are grateful for your contribution.  

Can I use my Donor Advised Fund to pay for registration?

Donor Advised Funds often have restrictions against using grants for events. Contact your donor advised fund company for more information.  

I can no longer attend the event. Who should I contact?

Please let us know if you can no longer attend Build-A-Thon by contacting our Donor Relations team at  DonorServices@HabitatEBSV.org or 866-450-4432, press 5 for “donations,” then press 1 for “financial donations.”  

What if the day I want to volunteer sells out?

 We will make every effort to accommodate you on your preferred day. Contact us to discuss options at DonorServices@HabitatEBSV.org or 866-450-4432, press 5 for “donations,” then press 1 for “financial donations.” 

What kind of work will we be doing?

Construction volunteers will help frame and raise the walls for the first and second floors of these 10 homes. No experience is required to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity.

Will food be provided?

Breakfast, lunch, and snacks will be provided each day on site. We’ll also provide plenty of water and Gatorade. Please get in touch with us if you have specific dietary needs. You are welcome to bring your own snacks if you wish. Please bring a reusable water bottle!

What if I don't meet the $250/day fundraising minimum?

You can make a donation to cover the rest of your minimum contribution. Complete your fundraising early to ensure the day doesn’t sell out before you reach your goal! Is my registration refundable if my plans change?

No; Build-A-Thon is a non-refundable event. Neither donations toward your registration nor additional funds raised toward your fundraising goal can be returned.

Your generous support helps Habitat serve our community, and we are grateful for your contribution.  

Can I send in a check donation to be counted toward my fundraising goal?

To ensure that the donation counts toward your goal, please add “Build-A-Thon” and the participant’s name in the memo line or include an additional note. Please be aware, checks may take three weeks or more to be received and processed. Complete your fundraising early to ensure the day doesn’t sell out before you reach your goal!
